HOW DOES THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT EQUITY REPORT AFFECT YOUR B-BBEE SCORE?

The Employment Equity Act window is open for electronic submissions to designated employers form 1 October 2015 to 15 January 2016. If you are a designated employer and have to submit an Employment Equity report it will be needed for you B-BBEE verification to score points under Management Control.

The criteria for having to submit an employment equity report is dependent on exceeding the turnover threshold below or employing  50 people or more.

DRAFT ON STATE TENDERS

As conveyed in the previous news brief the Minister of Finance published a draft for 60 days comment in July 2015 on state tenders in PREFERENTIAL PROCUREMENT REGULATIONS, 2015.

It addresses amongst others the following:

-The 90/10 preference point system for acquisition of goods, works and/or services with a Rand value of above R50m. (Meaning that the decision will be made 90% on price and 10% based on your B-BBEE score)

BROAD BASED SCHEMES BACK IN BUSINESS AND CLARITY ON EMPOWERING SUPPLIERS

The DTI released a “Revised Notice of Clarification” in the Government Gazette 38799 issued on 15th  May, signed off on the 12th  May 2015, this time by Minister Davies himself. The wording is this Gazette has been slightly amended but the dreaded paragraph 1 (d) has been omitted. This means the old rules apply once again to Broad Based Schemes including Employee Ownership Schemes .
